I thought that maybe some RFID trickery could b= e the answer, but since I have heard a few stories about one cat learning t= o open a RFID door for another cat*, I'm not sure how to tackle the problem= .. The idea of something like this automatic food dish AND a very narrow tub= e to get to it could work.
