Maybe, but ...

Space instrumentation is working towards using lead free solder. When done =
correctly it apparently gives a much better solder joint. The trick is in d=
oing it right.

Lead was used because it made soldering easier for the (very) old manual so=
ldering methods, not because the joint was actually better.
