I have no idea why someone will want to kill it's own USB port? And ask public funds for that! :) however, this can be a good promotion for Analog Device USB isolation port: http://www.analog.com/en/products/interface-isolation/isolation/standard-di= gital-isolators/adum4160.html#product-overview which, BTW is so expensive that discourage any engineer to isolate the USB...unless it's impossible to do it elsewhere on the communication chain.
