Some months ago a device was described on a Russian site which looked like a USB 'memory stick' but which delivered high voltage high energy pulses to a computer's USB port with the intention of destroying the computer. Some turkeys have now launched an Indiegogo project to source such a device and they are promoting it as ostensibly a security device to protect computers from attack via the USB port by destroying said port. I (should) hardly need to say* that all their promo material about the security uses of such a device are just a ploy to allow them to promote it on Indiegogo. I liked their hitchhiker bag snatch video BUT while that would probably happen in the event that a USB killer was stolen, it is not a security measure, and is a mask for how these will mostly be used. (* Some will disagree with my conclusion. Feel free :-) ). If you are a kill-joy / concerned citizen / sheeple / disbeliever in the likely net positive effect of such a campaign [as I am in this context] you may wish to comment to Indiegogo that this device is in violation of their conditions - as it is Campaign https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/usb-killer--2#/ USB-Killer website http://usb-killer.com/ Indiegogo terms of use https://www.indiegogo.com/about/terms .... any items promoting hate, discrimination, personal injury, death, damage, or destruction to property; .... Be a kill-joy winger - dob them in. Despite the fancy promo material the real aim is to provide a malicious device that will destroy not only USB ports but other computer hardware components in many cases. The aim is to provide buyers with a malicious and destructive tool to target victims. There is no sensible use of this product if destruction of the PC is not a suitable outcome. **THEY** say: Please be aware: USB Killer may cause damage to the motherboard, depending on your computer. By making a pre-order you acknowledge that you are aware of this fact.
