Is the OP trying to overcome a real problem (that is, his mouse's battery doesn't last a reasonable length of time) or is he trying to improve it just as proof of concept? I have a Logitech wireless mouse that uses just one alkaline AA cell. I own it for almost one year and did not have to replace it yet. Perhaps he just need to buy a new mouse.
