Hi Brent, no, the PWMs are two separate tests. That is, the s/w runs either a simple adjustable loop to toggle the a4 pin or outputs 'real' PWM from b3 via the CCP module. Only one is connected to the gate by a 3-pin header and link BTW, without connecting b3 to the 10R gate resistor the wave at b3 is 5V, so there are no shorts.
