Looks like W5100 is higher current demand (up to 185mA) when compared to newer W5200 (up to 125mA for 10BaseT).=20 In any case a MAC&PHY ENC28J60 is already in 180mA alone, not accounting with extra consumption by a required PIC companion with TCP layer. So it seems W5200 is reasonably efficient. Subject: Re: [EE] Looking for standalone IC with MAC, PHY & TCP My only relevant experience is with the WIZnet W5100 in trivial quantities, and the main drawback (for my application) was power draw and dissipation o= f the chip. I've not looked at the later chips. -- James Cameron http://quozl.linux.org.au/ -- http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/chang= e your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
