I just had to vent a bit and I think I would find kindred souls here.

While searching for something related to MOSFETs, I came across the
following patent:

Apparently Motorola was granted a patent in 1984 on using MOSFETs in an
H-bridge to drive a motor.

This is ridiculous but what surprises me is that I have not heard about
this before. This seems to imply that, until 2004, Motorola could have sued
anyone who used MOSFETs to drive a motor in an H-bridge configuration
without paying Motorola a license fee.
