Hi Art, not quite understanding; are the batteries dead to start with?=20 You say you can't use it without being connected to the charger as the batteries are always dead, but say the batteries keep wearing out; seems to me that either your charger isn't actually charging, or your batteries aren't holding charge? Try getting an el-cheapo "universal" cellphone battery charger that connects directly to the battery terminals and give that a go, see if you can get it to run from battery or not when your charger is taken out of the equation. One of these only costs a few bucks, but I wouldn't trust them for more than a one-off charge or so, I doubt they have proper charge algorithms and could well be dangerous if left to their own devices. Something like one of these ones: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Universal-3G-Businessavel-Battery-Charger-USB-Po= rt-For-Mobile-Cell-Phone-BU-/261735590272?pt=3DLH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=3Di= tem3cf0a82980 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mobile-Universal-Battery-Charger-LCD-Indicator-S= creen-For-Cell-Phones-USB-Port-G-/181680974790?pt=3DLH_DefaultDomain_15&has= h=3Ditem2a4d07abc6 Practically every modern phone has the charge chip built-in nowadays, not sure what happened in the past, so if there's a charging error it's likely built into your phone. Any half-decent charge chip will terminate charge after a proper CC/CV session, if it stays at a trickle state then yeah it probably will slowly kill a battery if kept connected. Maybe if you put a mechanical timer on your powerpoint to only feed power to it for a few hours a day it might alleviate any future problems?
