My work computer has a wireless keyboard/mouse. I had some questions about
the battery life as well, so I took to writing the install date on the
batteries...
The one in my mouse was installed on 4/14/15 and shows no sign of dying at
the moment. (Single Duracell AA alkaline cell) From memory, the last one
gave up at about five months.
(and I spend a good part of my day in a CAD package that is all mouse work)

If I had a mouse that consumed a battery in a single day - It'd be in the
scrap bin.
