James and others, This discussion is getting a bit over the top. You=20 have a free offer from a reputable individual and=20 everyone gets into an argument over cheaper,=20 more efficient or blah, blah, blah. Then we shift to Chinese imports and again, blah,=20 blah, blah. I agree with James. We are greedy and want=20 everything for the lowest price. In 1995, the very=20 last television was made by Zenith in America and=20 every television purchased since then has been=20 made in Asia. Today, we don't even design=20 televisions, DVD players, DVRs and other=20 electronics. How sad is that? Some members of=20 this list were born into a world that has not got a=20 single manufacturer of American televisions in=20 America. I imagine they are the ones screaming=20 the loudest. We, the hobbyist, the American engineers, the=20 European engineers and other members of this=20 august list are speaking to this point as if it is the=20 fault of those who provide us with our "cheap"=20 consumer goods. We demand cheap. Period. It's=20 our fault. Would you be willing to pay $5,000 for a television=20 today? At today's wage, that would be the cost if it=20 was designed and made 100% in America. I would=20 not own a television if that were the price. So quit your whining. Look in the mirror and see=20 just who is the reason for the Asian market growing=20 while the American and European markets shrink.=20 Take a good look while mirrors are still made in=20 America and Europe. --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
