I use one of the modules(from eBay) along with a strain gauge taken from
a bathroom scale to measure catfood in an automated feeding station.
Good enough for my purposes. I'd do a bit of testing first before
expecting accuracy outside of room temperature. I like the cheesy serial
protocol.
