Some great info here - thanks. I am ex-Army, have travelled a number of times to Singapore in an official capacity and I have had the priviledge of being shown a number of areas of historical military signifigance by SDF personnel. On a previous trip I also booked a private guide who specialised in military history - fantastic and fascinating day. I will pay my respects at the Kranji War Cemetery on this trip. The "Gardens By The Bay" is the reason that this trip is including Singapore as well as KL. My wife had seen these on a TV program so we (she) decided they were on the itinerary for this trip (not that I am complaining). The photos make them look even more impressive - I think we will be spending a number of hours there (both day and night).... The Chinese Gardens also look good so will probably add them in. I do have my amateur licence so the comment about ham gear got my attention. I have just checked and I have a 60kg luggage limit from Singapore back to Oz so the imagination is running wild. There are a couple of places selling radio gear in Sim Lim Tower & Square so definitely somewhere to checkout. I am interested in electronic components so I will probably check out Jalan Pasar in KL. Not after anything specifically (and most stuff you can probably get online anyhow) but I do enjoy wandering around and looking at "stuff".
