At 3:13am I may well pass the spambot-Turing-test :-). Neither of the responses I have received were offlist as requested :-). I do not wish to be more clear onlist. I obfuscated the addresses and names for reasons which will hopefully be clear if the relevant pages are read. It is likely that listing names etc "in clear" may bring such messages to the attention of people who are profiting from the $ rolling into the country at present and may put honest aid workers at risk. . *> The way that message is constructed it can only cause elevated state of concern* *of what real intentions are behind it * My apologies - on reflection, I see that this looks extremely like a FB message I have received from several people recently which purports to be useful but which attempts to point one to a Chinese webpage which produces security warnings. They obfuscate the address to circumvent FB's vetting mechanisms. The (Russell signature style" 'Google knows' identifies a key player and their location and reason with no likely harm as there are many hits for the basic search. . Do have a look at the pages. The photos are excellent and informative. The humanitarian story is heart rending. And the secondary corruption story is heartbreaking. FWIW - I know someone whose extended family was severely mauled by a major natural calamity some years ago (not in New Zealand) - numerous family fatalities. I followed details in the news more closely than I otherwise may have because I knew them or of them. What happened to aid money and who seemed to benefit was eye opening. It seems that even in the depths of disaster the opportunity to benefit from $ intended to help those who are worst off is too much of a temptation both for those at the top of and well down the 'pecking order'. I did not / do not want to spell out names, locations an= d organisations. A smart off icial with a search engine could look for some of such. That's paaranoia on my part - but It's not my life.
