Back in march, Freescale was merged into/acquired by NXP. As I take it right now the Freescale still seem to operating normally. However, both produce competing lines parts, so I think it is inevitable that some parts will be phased out. Has anyone heard any news regarding these two companies? Since NXP is now running the show, I would think that Freescale's products would be subject to "The Axe." But which ones? I couldn't guess. Freescale produces a variety of parts (ie. for automotive applications) which don't seem to have a comparable replacement by NXP. Presumable NXP could axe every Freescale product overnight if they wanted, but that is doubtful since there still is and will continue to be non-trivial demand for all of Freescale's products.
