Faster charging can be explained by turning the device under charge off so =
no current
from the charger is going to be used ( "wasted" ) for device active mode co=
nsumption
but all the current will go into device battery instead.

I think there are no smoke and mirrors but simply bells and whistles in tha=
t cable :)
One with regular cable and good charger can simply turn the device off and =
charge it
faster that way compared to charging it while device is actively working.
