In office. Door closed. Hear yelling from several rooms away. Then closer. Sounds exited :-). Get up Fire! Fire!. Russell !!!.... Sounds as if she thinks I've been ignoring her. Grab camera, head for kitchen or wherever. Nice little blaze on far end of stove. Along most of depth of left edge. Decent little conflagration. Induction cooker sitting on stove top, with power on, had had stove-top element under it turned on :-). I missed the 'explosion' that reportedly occurred - perhaps as it shorted the mains input to the induction cooker. No fuses blown. Grab one of the 3 dry powder extinguishers from repository by stove. Recall the mess it made when I shot myself in the face with one some weeks ago - stupidly designed trigger guard had come off and I was rummaging amongst some stuff and ...) Discard extinguisher. Fill cup with water at cold tap. Set 2nd filling. Hie to conflagration. Inroads made. A few more of those will be needed. To & fro. Yell to Val to get filling chain going. Confusion. Fire dwindles. Gives up. Blackened but not charred ceiling. Milder on walls. Not terrible anywhere. Windows that are never opened are opened. Seldom opened ranch slider similarly. Fans are found from hither and yon. Peace and soot descend. Later: Trial wet mopping of ceiling looks promising. Looks like some time will have to be put aside sometime :-). Photos of now dismantled and rather terminally sorry for itself cooker will be sent to a friend in China who at one stage worked at an induction cooker repair factory. (I was somewhat surprised that such existed). "If I send you this can you repair it for me?" :-) Realise I had not taken any photos :-(. Shame - failure of my intended "any photo anywhere any-time" readiness aim. Then realise memory card had been in reader. Then recall thumbing empty slot and closing access door as I hurried firewards. I have no memory of drawing conclusions re card being missing or deciding camera was not useful but guess I may have done so 'on the fly'.
