I was unaware of it being done with any kind of oil, I stumbled upon it a decade or so ago while chasing down some specialized heat transfer fluids unrelated to soldering. http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/32646O/vapor-phase-reflow-soldering.pdf Trademarked as Fluoroinert. I can't claim to be an expert. At the time, I was looking at an aggressive PC overclocking project and was considering full submersion in cooling fluid. Found this due to it's dielectric properties and followed a couple hours of fascinated reading chasing down the "typical applications" in an effort to find a supplier for modest volumes. (never came to fruition for other reasons) Yeah, oil vapor soldering sounds a bit "ill-advised". Even without the occasional violent reaction, coating the PCB in oil isn't going to do any favors... -Denny --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
