When the rinse water dries, the toner pattern appears as a light grey, caused by the clay's presence.=20 Maybe the iron's temperature is too high... I'll try a lower temp next time. The bubbling is very evident in my case. If I put the board upside down from the start, I get large areas which haven't etched due to the bubbles. If at the bottom, and the solution isn't moved, the PCB pattern is discernable from the bubbles ;) Though I have not noticed it yet, I am somewhat worried that the bubbling could damage the toner itself.
