Quite so, although they're generally talking financially rather than
culturally. Appreciated though that one affects the other. Compare
with a program like Storage Wars where a find of an old piece
tends to get the $$$ signs into the eyes

Consider for example the old planes, trains and automobiles made
in their thousands of which very few survive. It's even easier to bin
an old calculator. Or even the systematic wiping of video tapes by
the BBC when tape was so expensive and had to be re-used.
Money was more of a priority than culture and many unique
perfomances were lost forever=20

If every generation has a clean-out then eventually everything will
become rare(r).

(seriously, true hoarding is a clinical condition, often involving
actual rubbish and 'bottles of stuff ', neither of which interest me)
