Hi Bob, All the LED strips I've seen have a transparent layer (kapton?) on the bottom that you'd hit after you remove the adhesive. Don't you have bare copper every three LEDs on the top, marked 12V + and - ? Friendly regards, Bob P.S. "international solvent", ie gasoline, cleans almost any sticky adhesive. Check local statutes before use.
