A really interesting comparison of two methods

The 'rotary bow' of the 1920's machine has been around for a long
time, since the pre-electric automaton days

I didn't recognise the tune in that one, but the modern one finishes
with the Ashokan Farewell, from Ken Burns' series The Civil War
(which I like to watch, as grim as it is)

This clip has a very similar timbre to the machine, the human touch
is quite apparent though

Unfortunate that the modern machine sounds like a hack beginner,
but it's better than any violin-playing robot I ever made
