Since changing the computer I use with MPLAB from an XP based system to a WIN7 (x64) system I am no longer able to debug. I am using MPLAB 8.43 with ICD2 and programming a PIC 16F87. After programming in debug mode I get the message "ICD0083 Derbug. Unable to enter debug mode" I can however program and run the chip perfectly satisfactorily in program mode. After extensive web searching I have tried: increasing the decoupling on the chip; changing to an external clock. I have not tried changing the cable (which is about 4 inches from the ICD to an adaptor board (rj-cable to single wires) and a further 4 inches to the test board bu the fact that I can program suggests that the connectivity is adequate. Prior to the change of computer I used to get this fault intermittently but now it is every time.
