Here is the long story........ I just got into welding. My welding box can draw up to 13 amps. So said the= fuse on the plug. The circuit breaker which is the welding box is plugged = into is rated for 16 amps. My great concern is burning off the insulation for the electrical cables in= the wall itself. The current draw on the welding box can be high. The weld= ing box can run up to 200amps *output current*. Hence my concern with all t= his testing. I live in a country that uses 240volts. John PS: I have done with wiring recently as the cable insulation failed due to = age outside the house. The original contractor did not use armor cable for = underground wiring.=20 From: "alan.b.pearce@stfc.ac.uk" To: piclist@mit.edu=20 Sent: Monday, February 16, 2015 5:32 PM Subject: RE: [EE] Insulation testing =20 >=20 > Will do! Don't want keep on doing wiring over and over again John >=20 I think you better tell us what the situation is that you are attempting to= fix. It is evident from this statement that you have had some sort of fail= ure where a cable has burned the insulation, so just what is the base line = story here ??? --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist =20 --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
