I'm wondering if a hybrid part like an IGBT might. The robustness
of a transistor with the gate of a FET for easy drive. I've recently
used the ISL9V5036P3

to drive a low ohm, high inductance load from a PIC pin with
no drive amplification. It's available in D2PAK as well as TO220
