This is an update =85. My problems with ComCast cable had the same symptoms ( indicating failure )= when I did tests out at the ( outdoor ) grounding block. This block is the= last thing the cable is attached to before it heads off the the utility po= le. I did the tests ( including connecting the ComCast internet modem ) to= the cable heading off to the utility pole. =20 Next=85=85 ( one day later ) "Frank the tech" came out just after it had snowed 4 inches. He was very n= ice and polite and did not argue when I asked him to start at the grounding= block. He said it was from the 1940s ( was there cable service then ? ) a= nd I agreed it was ugly looking. He replaced the block. He said the upstre= am going signal was bad. He laddered up at the utility pole and spent 10-2= 0 minutes de-constructing and reconstructing up there. During his activity= , I dashed inside and connected all my cable devices up. The internet mode= m was in failure mode. After a few minutes , it came alive / online. =20 Frank was muttering about excessive noise and he wanted to come inside. I = said =93no=94 and thanked him for his efforts. I posted a =93kudos=94 for = him at the ComCast website. All seems good at the moment.
