If it's measuring a variable pot, I'd use +V and GND as Vref, so the range would be 5V. If I was to go with a digital input of some kind, I'd have to come up with some kind of bar graph read out. Not impossible, but I feel like a knob with a pointer would be more precise than 10 LEDs. I suppose I could put a digital readout on there (LED or LCD), though that does add complexity.
