There are definitely some other funnies but most SHOULD follow the now formal "USB" spec. Most people comply - its the elite/specialist [tm again?] manufacturers that can be different. (BRain suggest Blackberry may be different but not guaranteed) Prior to formal spec for "5V USB" charging: The old Ericson chargers has a semi-complex voltage-current-time mapping that allowed low energy chargers to be identified and loaded appropriately. Some Motorola phones (LASR?) using both mini-USB and micro-USB had a resistor on an extra charger pin that had to be there for them to charge.
