James, I buy these:=20 https://www.tindie.com/products/TAUTIC/20-pin-pic-development-kit/ It's a simple 20-pin development board that will work with your PICKit. It = comes with a 16F1509.. I don't know if the PICKit2 will work with that. I h= ave a PICkit3 so that's not a problem. If you don't have one you should buy= it separately.=20 I prefer using this board because it breaks everything out but then that's = it, not an lot of extra garbage in the way. I usually will use it with a sm= all breadboard. Throw in some LEDs and a switch or rotary encoder or whatev= er sensor peaks your interest and you'll be off on your next project..=20 It seems like the last year or two there have been a lot of maker-movement = breadboard-friendly add ons for micros..
