I think it only applies to the ICD's.  Dunno if the ICD2's are still
supported, but they are currently having a trade-in deal so you can send
in an ICD2 and get an ICD3 for half price.  Same thing PICkit2/3.

I suspect that the main reason for the huge price difference between the
PICkit and the ICD is the guarantee.
