Thanks for all the great info. Naturally just as I got cooking on this
project, I got pulled onto another. Hopefully I can resume this
shortly. I like the look of
http://circuitsforfun.com/PicSFXPlayer.html - I will have to do a bit
of digging to see how hard it will be to transfer it over to XC8. The
upside is that his code targets a processor I'm fairly familiar with,
so that should help. I will also have a look at Roman's work as well.
>From what I remember, there might be a bit more work to get it running
(which is in a bit short supply at the moment).

I'm also going to try to find out more about the Seeedstudio module
(http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/Grove-Serial-MP3-Player-p-1542.html)
in case the $15 it'll cost me will save me a bunch of time on getting
the PIC to do it. We'll see...
