I agree. I've had good dealings with him on and off list, and was
quite pleasantly surprised when he said I was "one of the good
guys"

The last time we spoke was when I tried to upgrade the s/w of
one of his programmers and it all went pear-shaped. Not through
any particular incompetence on my or Olin's part, just that the
system drove me into a corner I couldn't get out of. Without any
hesitation at all, and without me asking, Olin sent me a replacement
programmer free of charge

Some people you just have to build up a little creditability with to
get past their crusty exterior
