We've been using PICs since the founding of our company in 2002, and contin= ue developing new designs using the new parts Microchip has been adding to = their lineup. "Crappy" is not a word I would use to describe them. "The world has moved on". Have you bothered to look at Microchip's financia= ls and market share trends, lately? Or do you form your opinion solely on w= hat you see in your sliver of the hobby-sphere? http://markets.ft.com/research/Markets/Tearsheets/Financials?s=3DMCHP:NSQ http://www.microchip.com/investor/Pressrelease/MCHP%20Investor%20Presentati= on.060313.pdf Microchip came out of the recession stronger than other companies, and it w= as no accident. Steve Sanghi had a plan for dealing with the crisis (he sta= rted his career at Microchip, dealing with a major crisis, and wrote a book= on it), before it happened, and unlike the rest of the industry, they avoi= ded layoffs. Read about it, in this excellent EEWeb interview: http://issuu.com/eeweb/docs/pulse_volume_96 It is odd to hear so much PIC-bashing unsupported by facts, from a guy who = fought tooth and nail to become a "PIC"List admin. May I suggest you consid= er stepping down, and leave the reigns in the hands of those who are more e= nthusiastic about the technology?
