Hoping someone can guide me with this one. I'm using a VND600SP-E driver (datasheet - http://tinyurl.com/nosg3go) with= a PIC18F2550 (+5V supply) to drive some 12V solenoids. The driver is conne= cted as follows: Pin 1 - Solenoid 1 Pin 2 - Solenoid 1 Pin 4 - Solenoid 2 Pin 5 - Solenoid 2 Pin 6 - Ground Pin 8 - Drive signal from PIC for Solenoid 2 Pin 8 - Drive signal from PIC for Solenoid 1 The Tab is connected to +12V As soon as I command either of the drive signals to go high, the driver out= put goes high, everything heats up (driver & PIC) & the inputs go to 12V. T= he driver is destroyed, though the PIC survives. (don't know that I'd trust= it now though.) The only load connected at this point is a 4K7 on series with an LED. I connected a new device on breadboard with the same result. I did not have= the current sense outputs connected to ground via a 1K as suggested by the= datasheet, so maybe thats my problem. I can wire up a new one to test this= theory, but I'm on my last device. so I'm hoping someone can step in with = some words of wisdom before I destroy that one as well.
