I've found that FTDI is pretty responsive to engineering inquires, dependin= g on your location. I believe I've talked to the group in the US NW area b= ut its been a few years. You might consider it being a counterfeit chip as well...give them the date= codes on it and see if they come back as valid. I've had enumeration issues in the past and it was due to invalid data in t= he part...bricked...and had to use their utility to get it back to working = properly but I haven't seen your particular issues. -----Original Message----- From: piclist-bounces@mit.edu [mailto:piclist-bounces@mit.edu] On Behalf Of= Richard Prosser Sent: Wednesday, December 03, 2014 3:50 PM To: Microcontroller discussion list - Public. Subject: [EE:] FTDI FT230X Problems Hi All, We are using the FTDI chip FT230X in a new product (about to be released) a= nd are having difficulties with it. I wonder if anyone else is using this c= hip and has had similar difficulties. The problems present as follows.: 1. Failure to enumerate on the USB system. I have found however that chilli= ng the chips with freeze spray gets them working again, and once working th= ey tend to stay working until the next restart. 2. Corrupt configuration. Sometimes fixed by reprogramming (once enumerated) using the FTDI utility. 3. Low output on one of the programmable output C-bus lines. This should ha= ve a high level of 3.2V, but sits at 0.8V. Freezing the chip has also fixed= this in one test case. The fault rate for these chips appear to be about 20 - 30% . All voltages a= nd reset controls are with datasheet requirements. Chips are beleived to be= genuine FTDI. So - has anyone had similar issues, or ideas as to what the problem could b= e other than faulty chips?
