What I was told by one of our FAEs was=20 that the 16C84 was simply renamed to 16F84 because it *was* the first=20 electrically-erasable part that Microchip made. In other words, it=20 wasn't obsoleted, it was simply renamed so as to be in line with the=20 upcoming flood of electrically-erasable parts. I'm hoping that Matt Bennett can step in here and correct me if I am=20 mistaken. Although he wasn't around during those early days of=20 Microchip, he surely does know of others that were there at that time. dwayne --=20 Dwayne Reid Trinity Electronics Systems Ltd Edmonton, AB, CANADA (780) 489-3199 voice (780) 487-6397 fax www.trinity-electronics.com Custom Electronics Design and Manufacturing --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
