If you need to add features that the 16F87 does not support, one need to know what those features are. Or do you want to replace it but using exactly the same application? I'd guess also that the actual replacement can depends on the planned volume. Does it have to be a direct plugin replacement? Or are you going to redesign the PCB? But maybe PIC16F1827 ?
