Some of the cheap masks will only trigger on a flickering light.  DC TIG ha=
s way less flicker than almost any other process, so that causes the LCD to=
 shut off and blast your eyes.  If you rig up something, maybe a hall senso=
r that flashes an LED at the sensor.  I'm sure you can figure something out=
