I have a Panasonic branded 5W LED light bulb which died a while ago when
knocked lightly while in an inspection lamp. It rattled thereafter.

Tonight I hacked my way in through the side of the "glass" which actually
appears to be glass.

What I found convinced me that this is either a fake or that Pansonic have
lost the plot completely.
Occam opines that the former conclusion is to be preferred. A look on the
web at "teardowns" turned up similar but not identical bulbs and added
weight to my initial conclusion.

I intend to pursue this. Somebody is going to recall these bulbs [tm] -
either Panasonic if genuine, or whoever if not.

More details anon BUT my initial query is:
