I haven't qui= te been able to tell whether the CMSIS standard requires code to be inelega= nt and bloated, but it sort-of looks that way. Some of the OS vendors have pretty good reputations, for the chips (and fea= tures) that they support (but that tends to be an abstracted subset of actu= al chip features=85) (maybe we need a RPFC - Reduced Peripheral Feature Co= mputer. As RISC stopped luring assembly programmers with fancy instructions= that were slow and difficult to use from a compiler, RPFC would avoid fanc= y peripherals that were difficult to use at a systems/OS level.)
