Admittedly I learnt altium first and tried to learn kicad later and=20
altium certainly has it's quirks.

But altium seems to have at least some respect for normal windows UI=20
conventions, kicad seems to have no respect for it at all. Kicad also=20
seems to massively overcomplicate the process of importing from=20
schematic to PCB. I fairly quickly gave up on kicad in frustration and=20
have resigned myself to the fact that if I want to do PCB design on an=20
independent basis i'll have to stump up the cash for altium.
