Not sure exactly what you mean so I have experimented I named cells A1 B1 C1 to SUM1, SUM2, SUM3 the referring to them in D1 =3D SUM1 + SUM2 + SUM3 D1 then sums whatever is in A1,B1,C1 I then copy the entire sheet1 and pasted to sheet3 in the same workbook and they do not seem to refer back to sheet1. Not sure this helps but ... I assume you are aware of the function =3DCELL("filename") which returns th= e full path and using mid$ can extract just the sheetname. When referring to cells that correspond to variable names Excel uses the > format > > =3D'Sheet_name'!$X_Ref$Y_Ref > > > eg if I have a worksheet > with cells named > SUM1, SUM2, SUM3 > referring to absolute names > A1, B2, C3 in a that sheet > > I wish to be able to replicate the sheet and > > have the variables > SUM1, SUM2, SUM3 > refer to cells > A1, B2, C3 on the new sheet > > If I create a new worksheet and copy the old one to it the names refer to > cells in the old sheet. > > _______ > --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
