I can't offer specific advice in this case, but I prefer ratchet crimpers. It's the best way I've found to know that you've gone far enough with the crimp, when doing these operations without a fancy production crimper. I believe I have a Molex brand crimper that was surprisingly affordable from Digikey. Seems to have worked well for the bits I've done (which isn't that many).
