There was a seminar on Organs (the musical instrument!) at an IETF meeting =
a long time ago.
Apparently for perfect chords, you want your intervals (frequency ratios) t=
o be exactly right, rather than having your notes be exactly on that 2**(1/=
12) diatonic scale frequencies.  It's not nearly so relevant for monotonic =
instruments (unless you have several!)
