Quite.

Someone did try a system back in the 80s in which a synthesiser/
electric piano could tell what key it was being played in and alter
its notes to that scale. Doesn't always work in an ensemble piece
because you need to know what other instruments are doing, as
it's those you should mostly be harmonising with.

Pretty much an academic, but ultimately pointless, endeavour and
the average punter (including me of course) probably couldn't tell
the difference anyway
