But, the relationship between adjacent notes is interesting. It's something like 2^(n/8). I imagine it had a binary origin. An octave is easy to identify. "Half way" between would be the next step, then half again, then half again, and you're to 8 notes per octave. Back to octave and decade... I suppose octade would be 8 times and decave would be the same as octave, but 10 notes per frequency doubling (time for metric music?).
