Are there any "reference designs" for solar charging of Li-ion batteries? The nominal idea is for a 16-19V panel (designed to charge car batteries/et= c) through a 5V switchmode supply (automotive USB supply) through one of st= andard-ish 5V-Li-ion charger chips. But it could be better, I suppose. (OTOH, the plan says to provide significantly bigger panel (and bigger batt= eries) than the application may need, so perhaps cost and reliability is mo= re of an issue than efficiency. the solar panels will NOT be in "full sun"= most of the time, so part of the design "desirables" would be to be able t= o collect power better under "less than full output" conditions. (Say, 10W= h of batteries charged from a 5W panel, or something like that.) (solar landscaping lights that work, even though many of the actual lights = are in full shade, by using a centralized solar panel/battery and wire=85) Thanks Bill W --=20 http://www.piclist.com/techref/piclist PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist .
