I have a couple of these modules. The reason I found them was because they use the TI CC3000 WiFi module, a product I was (am) working on uses the CC3000, this is a troublesome=20 beast but with some good features. Headless WiFi configuration is a great feature. I have not had much time to play with the Spark Core, but I'll tell you=20 what I can. The Spark Core is designed to be used with their cloud, allowing=20 internet wide control of your device the development environment is browser based (called Build) with over=20 the air loading of your code to the core. It is arduino flavoured code with good community support. The default program is called 'TINKER' and interacts with a phone app I=20 assume it does IOS it definitely works with Android. There is security built into the system so you should only be able to=20 connect to and control modules associated with your account. First time you log in you 'claim' a core, you can release a core, and=20 claim others. You can develop locally and limit access to your own wlan/lan if you=20 want to. One downside to the CC3000 is that it cannot be an Access Point, and I=20 don't think it supports WiFi Direct. My 'If only I had the time', applications include Home Solar Inverter=20 monitoring and Electric car data logging, so when the car is home it can=20 report its status and download the latest data..... I wish I could devote more time to these things but the next product is=20 already taking my time, so The Spark Core is another ornament on my desk. It configured and worked as advertised, the documentation is quite good,=20 the rest is up to you. I have no affiliations with Spark Core other than being a customer.=20 Spark Core was a Kickstarter project Here's another ornament on its way to my desk. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/vocore-a-coin-sized-linux-computer-with-= wifi Trevor > https://www.spark.io/dev-kits > > It comes complete with an ARM Cortex M3 controller and 802.11b/g=20 > interface > > Has anybody played with this and what are your thoughts?
