In NZ the Wof sticker is stuck to the windscreen interior with a tenacious
adhesive and the sticker proper is designed to peel apart and destroy
itself if you attempt to remove it. Come WOF time the old one is usually
removed with a scraper.

The old one has 12 potential punchouts around the edge and one of these is
punched out when issued - corresponding to the month of expiry.
GOTLAO are trained to identify from a distance WOFs that have expired based
on the hole punching. Some are able to do so across an urban road width.
