After which you Knight the lesser players (to be unkind) and excoriate the
key architects and promulgators .

In decades to come, as less is remembered, and appreciation fades into the
noise you ramp up the invective, pull down the statues, metaphorical or
other, and talk about crimes against humanity. There were enough of those
to go round on all sides. Singling out the tall poppies decades on is much
harder than attempting historical understanding.
